Philosophy of Teaching
Personal Philosophy of Education
Planning Instruction
The classroom is a diverse place where every child's background and interests should be recognized and respected. Incorporate specific backgrounds and interests of students within the curriculum and classroom drawing on students interests and backgrounds will promote confidence and cultural awareness. Modifying is a key point in designing learning experiences for all students. Preparation of short and long terms plans should take into consideration the grade appropriate standards, students learning needs, subject matter knowledge, and a wide range of instructional strategies.
Organizing Subject Matter
Be knowledgeable of the curriculum you are teaching. Read, research, and develop a strong understanding of the subject matter. Deliver and present curriculum in a fashion that supports students' understanding. Connecting the subject matter across the curriculum will help reinforce and develop student's learning.
Develop Professionally
The world of education is ever changing. Every day reflect on your teaching to better develop yours skills. Take every possible opportunity to expand your eduction. Technology is a fast pace field that is growing in the classroom. Continuously update your knowledge and skill of classroom technology. As a professional educator one should be able to work and collaborate with colleagues, family and the community. Actively become involved with the community by attending programs and special events. Overall, a professional educator must strive to set goals and motivate themselves to improve their professional development. Number one rule I believe is to never stop learning!
Assessing Student Learning
In the beginning of the school year and as an ongoing assessment, have students set goals for themselves in education. Openly discuss with students and parents goals that I would like them to work on and that I will be helping them with. Assessing students should be done through formal and informal forms of work.
Engage and Support
All students must be engaged and supported in their learning process. It is important to clarify and develop on what the students has learned. Connecting each child's unique and different life experiences into the curriculum will actively engage and motivate students. Our diversity is continuously growing and not every student learns in the same way. Be prepared to provide visuals, cooperative grouping, and different expectations for every child based on their diverse needs. Modifying work to each child's ability. Students must have a voice in the classroom and be free to make choices in and about their classroom. Students will be interactive with their learning physically, cognitively, and emotionally.
Environment
A classroom should be inviting and established to meet every child's needs. A safe learning environment promotes physical and emotional well being of every child. Students and teacher will learn in an environment that respects others as well as themselves. Each students has a voice and personal responsibility within the class.
