Welcome!
Welcome to my online teaching portfolio. My name is Nicole Loriso or Miss Loriso as my students call me. I have been a first grade and kindergarten teacher in the San Diego area for over 10 years. For the past two years I have been one of the select few teachers to be chosen as part of my school's Instructional Leadership Team. With that position, I am the Lead Teacher for first grade and provide my team of 8 first grade teachers with trust, support, commitment, accountability, comfort, and dedication to improving our team and the learning success of our students. During this last school year, I also served as the Support Provider for the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Program. As the Support Provider, my goal was to ensure the professional growth, success and retention of four new participating teachers by providing intensive coaching, assisting, modeling, and support.
I am a graduate of San Diego State University and have a bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies and a minor in English. I attended Cal State Fullerton for my post baccalaureate studies and I currently hold a Clear California Multiple Subjects Credential.
Besides my love for teaching, I also enjoy sports. For the past two years I have been the coach for our school's girls basketball team. I enjoy being apart of my school's community and being involved with school committees. I have served on the following committees/groups: technology, student council, student motivation, social committee, Instructional Leadership Team, and after school tutoring.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my teacher blog and I hope it gives you more insight into my background and my lifelong love and dedication to teaching and learning.
